Nice Story – Successful Young Entrepreneur With Down Syndrome

Farmingdale , NY entrepreneur John Cronin is a hosiery mogul at 28 as 2016 co-founder of family online sock company John’s Crazy Socks. Because of his love of wacky sock themes he is now the largest online sock company having sold over 2 million orders, across 4,000 designs, while donating $800,000 to charity. A former Special Olympian, he struggled after high school trying to find a job. After starting a vast collection of wacky socks on vacations he insisted to his family that selling them online could be a viable business, and boy did it turn out to be one. Sales are ongoing now in 89 nations.

With his success, John made it a point to give employment opportunities within his company for other people with differing abilities and is a generous philanthropist. He is in demand as an inspirational speaker, he even formed a close bond with President George H.W. Bush, the two would send each other socks they thought the other would like.

In this era of whining and entitlement, isn’t it refreshing seeing a young person overcome personal challenges, build a successful company based on his passion, and turning around and lifting others with his success, good for you John!
