I grew up in a liberal suburb of NYC. In 1984 Ronald Reagan was running for President, he was called Ronnie Ray Guns because he was a defense hawk, people feared him getting into office and igniting a nuclear war. I remember the night the final results came in going to sleep in my studio apartment expecting a nuclear flash at any moment. I went through a few anxious days but eventually just got back into working, school, and a normal life. A few years later he spoke those fateful words, are you better off today than you were 4 years ago? Sitting in my new house with a BMW in the driveway I said, you bet, and voted him into a second term. His eight years could arguably be the best America had seen in modern history, world peace, strong economy, the end of the Cold War. So my advice is to take off the gloves, take down the barricades, go back to your daily life and let’s see how it rolls out. You may not think it now, but my glass half full says it could be another great 4 years for you and all Americans. As a hobby I collect vintage belt buckles, I ran across this one a few months ago. Nobody knows what it is when I wear it, one kid actually asked if it was Mount Rushmore, and I thought to myself, it should be.
