Their City Council passed a “non-sanctuary city” resolution instructing law enforcement to cooperate with ICE and other federal agencies in their fight against migrant crime, calling it a “basic public safety issue”. Duh. That takes direct aim at a Newsom backed 2017 law that forbids local law enforcement from assisting federal immigration authorities.
Huntington Beach is an affluent beach town, likely a left-leaning voter core in Newsom’s last election, so it’s not just Malibu that’s going up in flames, so is his voter base.
