The recent 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress test, given to 4th and 8th grade students showed that reading proficiency hit the lowest levels in the 32 years the test has been administered.
It showed at least a third of American students failed to demonstrate even basic reading skills for their age group.
With 51.5 million children enrolled students that means tens of millions of kids are failing to make the grade.
All this while Betty Rosa, NY State Education Department Commissioner and Board of Regents Chair, gave herself a hush-hush $155,000 raise, to $489,000, that’s on top of the $120,000 school pension she’s already collecting. That’s a lot of teachers and books to help the kids, but instead the bureaucrats help themselves. Time to drain this swamp as well.
