I hope he proves me wrong, but this job usually goes to grizzled warriors with years of leadership and logistics experience. Lloyd Austin, his predecessor, is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., he served 41 years in uniform, retiring as a four-star Army general after three years as commander of U.S. Central Command, that’s cred. But I must say, when Trump announced a guy named Mad Dog was the new new Defense Secretary, that’s all I needed.
